The Path to EMV 2020 – Point-of-Sale Hardware and Indoor PIN Pads

Your point-of-sale (POS) system is the main component of your payment processing system. EMV (chip card) acceptance starts with ensuring that you have a POS system that can accept EMV cards at the dispenser and inside your store.

Below is the list of the common POS devices that can process with Clark Brands, accept EMV cards in your store and currently or will soon accept EMV cards at the dispensers:

ruby
  • Gilbarco Passport
  • Verifone RubyCi
  • Verifone Ruby2/Commander
  • Verifone Topaz/Commander

The Ruby Supersystem (pictured above on the right) will not be able to accept EMV cards at the pump or inside your stores. If you are using a Ruby Supersystem at your location, you will need to plan on upgrading your POS system as soon as possible. You may be receiving chargebacks for non-EMV transactions that you could avoid by upgrading along with being ready to accept EMV cards at your pumps.

Other devices such as the Ruby Sapphire and Wayne Nucleus will not be able to accept EMV cards at the pump. These POS devices will need to be upgraded in order to accept EMV cards at your pumps.

The proper PIN pad is needed in order to accept EMV cards inside your store. The primary PIN pad for EMV acceptance is the Verifone Mx900 series PIN pads. If you are currently using a Verifone Mx800 series PIN pad, Ingenico iSC250 or a 1000SE, the PIN pad will need to be replaced as soon as possible.
